Why we call it a rebuild, not a conversion

WordPress and Astro are not the same kind of thing, so there is nothing to "convert" in the way you might convert a file format.

WordPress runs on a database and PHP

Every page request pulls content from a database and assembles it live with PHP and plugins. That is what makes WordPress flexible, and it is also what makes it slow and a constant target for attacks.

Astro builds static pages ahead of time

There is no database to query and no PHP running on every request. The site gets built once and served as fast, static files. Different architecture entirely, so a 1 to 1 automated port is not possible.

Your content moves, your templates get rebuilt

The words, images, and structure of your content come across. The theme, page templates, and any plugin-powered features get rebuilt from scratch to work the static way.

Anyone claiming an automated converter is overselling it

Tools exist that scrape a WordPress site's HTML output and drop it into a static site. They copy what a page looks like, not how it works. Forms, search, comments, and dynamic content all break.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about moving a site from WordPress to Astro.

Is this an automated conversion tool?

No. There is no tool that faithfully converts a WordPress site into Astro. WordPress relies on PHP, a database, and plugins doing runtime work, while Astro builds static pages ahead of time. This is a real rebuild: new templates, content moved over, and any plugin functionality you actually need re-implemented in a way that fits a static site.

Will I lose my SEO rankings?

Not if it is done correctly. We preserve your URL structure where possible, set up 301 redirects for anything that changes, carry over your meta titles and descriptions, and rebuild your structured data. Astro sites also tend to load faster than WordPress, which is a ranking factor in its own right.

What happens to my forms, comments, and plugins?

Anything that needed a database or server-side logic gets rebuilt using a static-friendly approach. Forms are wired to a form handling service, search can run client side or through a hosted index, and most plugin functionality has a static-site equivalent. We scope this out with you before starting so there are no surprises.

Can you migrate a WooCommerce store?

Ecommerce is the one case where a full static rebuild is not always the right fit, since checkout and inventory need a real backend. We will tell you honestly if Astro makes sense for your store or if a different approach is a better fit before you pay for anything.

How long does a rebuild take and how much does it cost?
