Common questions about our email migration service.

Will any emails be lost during the migration?
No. We cut over the MX records first so new mail starts flowing to the new provider right away, then migrate the existing mailbox content over. The process is scoped and timed carefully so nothing gets left behind.
Which providers do you migrate from and to?
We migrate from virtually any provider to Google Workspace or Microsoft 365. That includes cPanel shared hosting, legacy Exchange servers, Gmail, IMAP providers, and most others. We can also migrate to alternative providers like MXroute, though Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 are what we recommend. If you are unsure whether we can support your client’s setup, submit a ticket and we will confirm.
How long does an email migration take?
It depends on the number of mailboxes and the size of each inbox. A single mailbox migration is typically a few hours. Multi-user migrations for small businesses can take longer depending on inbox size and sync time. We scope it before starting based on your client’s setup so there are no surprises.
What happens to email that arrives during the cutover window?
Once the MX records are updated, new mail routes directly to the new provider. MX propagation is usually fast, within minutes to an hour. We then migrate the historical mailbox content so everything ends up in the right place on the new platform.
Do you handle the MX record changes as part of the migration?
Yes. Updating the MX records is part of what we do. We also update SPF, DKIM, and DMARC to reflect the new provider so your client’s outgoing mail is authenticated from day one on the new platform.
