Client Changing Domains
in Microsoft 365?

Client is rebranding or moving to a new domain? We handle the full switch inside the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. DNS, MX records, SPF, DKIM, user UPN updates, and keeping the old domain attached so no mail gets lost.

Everything we handle in the domain change.

One session. We get into the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, make the switch cleanly, and confirm mail is flowing before we hand it back.

Add and Verify the New Domain
We add the new domain inside the M365 Admin Center and complete the TXT record verification at the DNS level. No fumbling through Microsoft’s verification steps.
Update MX Records for the New Domain
The new domain needs its own MX records pointing to Microsoft’s mail servers. We update the DNS zone so mail routes correctly from day one.
SPF, DKIM, and DMARC for the New Domain
Authentication records do not carry over automatically. We configure SPF, DKIM, and DMARC for the new domain, then verify every record passes using our Email DNS Checker before we proceed with the switchover.
Set the New Domain as Default and Update Users
We set the new domain as the default in the Admin Center and update every user’s primary email address and UPN to the new domain.
Keep the Old Domain Attached as an Alias
We keep the old domain on the account so any mail still going to old addresses lands in the right inbox. Nothing falls through during the transition.
Confirm Mail is Flowing Before We Close
Once the domain is switched, we send a real email to our Email Inbox Tester to confirm SPF, DKIM, and DMARC are passing on the new domain. The session does not end until the test comes back clean.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about the Microsoft 365 domain change service.

Will email go down during the domain change?
We work through the DNS changes in a specific order to keep disruption minimal. Mail may experience a short delay during propagation but we monitor it throughout and the session does not end until everything is flowing.
What happens to email sent to the old domain after the switch?
We keep the old domain on the account as an alias. Any mail sent to old addresses still lands in the right inbox. We recommend keeping it attached for at least 90 days.
Do you need Global Admin access to do this?
Yes. Domain management and user updates in Microsoft 365 require Global Admin access. We will tell you exactly what we need before the session starts.
Can you do this if the domain is registered at a different provider?
Yes. We just need access to wherever the DNS is managed, whether that is the registrar, Cloudflare, or another host. We will walk you through providing the right level of access.
How long does the domain change take?
Most domain changes are complete in a single one-hour session. DNS propagation can take a few hours after the session ends, but all the configuration work is done within the hour.
