Common questions about Cloudflare performance tuning.

Do I need a paid Cloudflare plan to get meaningful performance improvements?
No. The free plan includes caching, Rocket Loader, and browser TTL settings that can meaningfully improve load times. Paid plans unlock significantly more: Polish for automatic image compression, Mirage for mobile image optimization, advanced cache analytics, image resizing, additional Page Rules, and Argo Smart Routing. We tune whatever plan your client is on and tell you clearly where an upgrade would actually pay off.
Will you change settings that could break my client’s site?
We are careful with settings that commonly cause issues, like Rocket Loader on sites with certain JavaScript, or aggressive caching on sites with dynamic content. We test after each significant change and know which settings to approach with caution. If a change causes an issue, we roll it back immediately.
Can you help improve Core Web Vitals scores?
Sometimes, yes. Cloudflare tuning can contribute to Core Web Vitals through faster TTFB, caching, and compression, but it does not guarantee a score increase. Core Web Vitals depend on many factors outside Cloudflare’s scope, including server performance, image optimization, and how JavaScript is loaded. We will be upfront with you about what Cloudflare can realistically address and what needs to be fixed elsewhere.
Do you do a before and after comparison?
Yes. We run a baseline speed test before making changes so you can see the impact. We use tools like Cloudflare Analytics, GTmetrix, or PageSpeed Insights depending on what is most useful for the specific issue. You get a clear picture of what changed and why.
What if my client is already on Cloudflare but performance is still slow?
That usually means either the Cloudflare settings were never configured beyond the defaults, or the bottleneck is elsewhere such as a slow hosting server, unoptimized images, or heavy JavaScript. We audit the Cloudflare settings, identify what is not configured, fix it, and tell you clearly if the remaining slowness is outside Cloudflare’s scope.
